Once upon a time, over eighteen years ago to be more specific, it occurred to me that it would be great to start a blog that would publicize and review gift card deals, promotions, strategies and the industry around it at large. But as time went on, I was busy with other projects, procrastinating – until someone else had implemented this idea magnificently. I’ve come to rely on Stephen Pepper’s Gift Card Galore, and it is only due to his recent decision to stop updating it that I was prompted to step in. Stephen has certainly set a high bar.
Eugene Weinstein holds a BS in Computer Science from the Polytechnic University (now NYU Tandon School of Engineering). Prior to founding LOYALTECH LLC, Eugene worked as an application developer at UBS for a number of years, and before that – in various consulting roles – for Neuberger Berman, Deutsche Bank, US Trust, Dun & Bradstreet, AT&T Labs and Morgan Stanley. Throughout his career, he was mainly involved in projects related to mitigating risk, be it margin risk, investment portfolio risk, counterparty default risk, credit risk, and so on.
He was always fascinated with arbitrage opportunities, striving to minimize risk exposure while achieving projected returns, which had inevitably drawn him to the world of gift cards, loyalty programs and related markets.
